چکیده

Abstract Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection is a common cause of hospitalisation in infants and the elderly. Palivizumab prophylaxis only approved treatment modality but costly offered to select vulnerable populations. Here, we investigated gene delivery approaches via recombinant adeno-associated (rAAV2/8) simian immunodeficiency (rSIV.F/HN) vectors achieve sustained vivo production palivizumab murine model. Delivery palivizumab-expressing 28 days prior RSV challenge resulted complete protection from RSV-induced weight loss. This approach offers against infection, allowing for wider use reduction costs

Protection against Respiratory Syncytial Virus Infection by DNA Immunization

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality in infants and the elderly and is a continuing challenge for vaccine development. A murine T helper cell (Th) type 2 response associates with enhanced lung pathology, which has been observed in past infant trials using formalin-inactivated RSV vaccine. In this study, we have engineered an optimized plasmid DNA ve...

Efficacy and optimization of palivizumab injection regimens against respiratory syncytial virus infection.

IMPORTANCE Infection with the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the leading cause of hospitalizations in children, accounting for more than 90,000 hospitalizations every year in the United States. For children who are at risk for severe RSV infections, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends immunoprophylaxis with a series of up to 5 injections of the antibody palivizumab administered ...

Palivizumab for respiratory syncytial virus prophylaxis.

Palivizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody, has been approved by the FDA to prevent severe lower respiratory tract infections caused by RSV in high-risk patients. Prophylaxis of RSV infections with palivizumab requires monthly injections (15 mg/kg) during the RSV season. In the IMpact-RSV study, hospitalizations resulting from RSV decreased by 55% in the palivizumab treatment group. Palivizum...

Palivizumab, a Humanized Respiratory Syncytial Virus Monoclonal Antibody, Reduces Hospitalization From Respiratory Syncytial Virus Infection in High-risk Infants.

Objective. To determine the safety and efficacy of prophylaxis with palivizumab in reducing the incidence of hospitalization because of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection in high-risk infants. Methods. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was conducted at 139 centers in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. During the 1996 to 1997 RSV season, 1502 children ...
